    Associated Press is auctioning NFT of iconic shots

    On the occasion of the 175th anniversary of photojournalism, the Associated Press (AP) is selling some of history’s most iconic photographs in digital version.

    The first NFT available on the OpenSea marketplace is part of the AP ARTiFACTS: The 175 Collection series, and is the 1945 shot by Joe Rosenthal, which sees American soldiers hoisting the flag at Iwo Jima.

    The NFT for sale also includes the soundtrack by violinist Nick Kennerly and additional rare images by Rosenthal.

    The AP stated that to make it possible to publish the shots in NFT format on the Ethereum blockchain, it has collaborated with the blockchain company Everipedia and with numerous digital artists.

    “We are excited about this new way to visualize, own and experience historical moments captured by AP reporters,” said Dwayne Desaulniers, AP’s director of data licensing, “AP’s NFTs are a tribute to our rich history of factual journalism. , history and facts that belong to the chain “.
